Nutrisystem. Does It really work?

Nutrisystem. Does It really work?

Many people have visit my page called “My 65 pound Nutrisystem Adventure” and asked me the same question which is does Nutrisystem really work? Does the food taste good? How long does it take to lose? Well, to answer the first question, yes!! Nutrisystem does work!! I am not a model, I am just a regular person needing to lose weight in order to not became diabetic. Before starting the program I weighed 230lbs which is a lot for my 5’8” frame and I was so over being that weight, so that is when I joined Nutrisystem. Here is a picture of me before (I hate this picture, but here we go):

This was a picture of me on our cruise in 2004. I hated this photo and the feeling I had when I was on the cruise. On the excursions we went on and by the way a lot of walking was exhausting and I new something needed to be done sooner or later. Many people today look at this picture and say is that really you? Of course it is, but many friends and family know this is me and how far I came on Nutrisystem to get to the new person I am today through getting the correct portions, drinking water, and exercise. Here are a few pictures of me after the weight loss weighing at 155-160lbs:

So you see. I am a real person that struggled with there weight too any continue to maintain it to this day.

Now, how does Nutrisytem taste? For me, it taste great!! I found foods that satisfied my cravings because you can customize the food you like on their program which is a plus. The ship the food to your home which is very convenient too. My favorite foods were:

  1. Thin crust pizza
  2. Lassange
  3. macaroni and beef
  4. chilli and beans
  5. hamburgers
  6. low fat granola cereal
  7. pancakes
  8. chicken noodle soups
  9. vegatarian pasta salad
  10. chicken salad with melba toast
  11. chocolates
  12. granola bars and many more!!

So, what I am trying to say that if you decide this is the program for you try to find foods that you enjoy in order to make your weight loss process a bit more enjoyable.

The other question that was asked a lot was how long did it take to lose the weight? For me it took 8 months to lose 65 pounds, but keep in mind that everyone loses weight differently. It may take someone longer or even shorter to lose this amount that is way all weight loss programs say “All results are typical”. So, if you are trying to lose weight and need something that works by all mean try Nutrisystem. It worked for me, so why wouldn’t it work for you?

  11. Hi Tracy,

I did incorpaorate exercises like walking, low impact aerobics while I was on NS. I still exercise to maintain my current weight now.

  13. Natasha,
I started NS about 1 week ago, after having lost 60lbs on Atkins over 6 years ago. Wondered if you could answer a question for me. I noticed that I actually GAINED 3 lbs my first week of NS, and wondered if this was normal after having been on an Atkins lifestyle for such an enlongated period of time. I really only want to lose another 25 lbs, and was a little disappointed that I actually gained weight my first week. However–if this is normal, then I’ll just hold out and keep on moving forward.

    • Hi Jennifer!

Congrads on starting NS. First my experience I did not gain weight starting NS. You may want to contact a NS counselor to see what went wrong. Now from what I remember, if you had started exercise or muscle training your body could be building muscle which ways more that fat and that could explain the short term gain, but I am not a specialist. Check with the NS staff to see what can be done differently so that you can bee successful.

  14. I am on nutrisystem – received my second shipment and I find I am yo-yo ing on it – and now have gained 5 lbs; I wanted to cancel the 3rd shipment because of the expense, but the counselor talked me out of it. I cannot exercise right now due to surgery recovery – HELP – any advice you have would be great! Congratulations on your weight loss – u look wonderful!

    • Hi Lisa,

I am sorry to hear that you can’t exercise due to your surgery. That is probably why you are gain weight. You are not able to do any physical activity to burn off the calories my friend. You may want to talk with a counselor to see what they advise for your situation. I would love to help, but I have not had to experience what you are going through right now. Give them a call and I am sure they will be able to help you.
      Best wishes!
      Natasha :)

  15. Hi. I’ve been considering doing Nutrisystem for a long time. At first I thought why pay XXX amount of dollars when I can probably save money buy doing it on my own. Apparently, that did work. Abd I realized its not about saving dollars, its about saving my life. I was only 19 when I was rushed to the hospital due to servere pain in the stomach area. It was trapped gull stones. I know its common for people to have their gall bladder removed but at a young that shouldn’t happen. I was never what I ate, but how and when, and lack of exercise. I recently joined a gym and now because of your story, I’m ordering Nutrisystem today! Thank you

    Saje

  16. First off I would like to congratulate Natasha for her accomplishment and posting her success. This is the kind of inspiration that helped me make the decision to join NS.

I am a male and I\’m about 60lbs over weight. I started Nutrisystem on 1/4/10 and today 1/19/10 – 15 days later, I have already lost 15 pounds!!! I don\’t go to the gym to excessive, but I do live a busy lifestyle.

I thought for sure I would be starving when I started the diet, but I\’m not at all, and it\’s easy to stick to. In my opinion, the food is actually pretty good. I can say this, I don\’t think I have ever eaten this healthy my entire life and it feels great!!

Anyways just thought I\’d post my experience with NS. I\’ll drop a line back when I reach my goal weight.

Good luck to anybody trying to loose weight.

    Dan L.

    • Hi Dan!

Congrats to you for losing weight and giving yourself a healthy life style! Thanks for sharing your experience thus far and I wish you much success in the future!! Have a great day, Natasha :)

  17. Hi,

I am a skeptic does it really work or only if you stay on the NS foods forever? I know of someone that got sick after being on NS. Have you heard of that? I want to try it but want the real scoop if it DOES work and you don’t go broke.

    Thanks.

    Cindy

    • Hi Cindy,

NS really does work and no you do not have to stay on the foods forever. I am not on the foods now because I learned how to cook healthy meals on my own by using the great “Google” to find healthy recipes that I enjoy. No, I have not heard of anyone getting sick after NS, and I for sure did not get sick. So, keep in mind each person’s results will be different because our bodies are not the same.

Here is my thoughts for you. NS works during and after getting off the program. The thing people miss and forget is that you will have to keep up the exercise, the balanced diet, drinking water, and watching portions with any foods you eat after you have successfully lost the weight. What makes people unsuccessful and gain the weight back is that they think since I lost the weight and now I can eat whatever I want and how much I want. As a result, the exercise routine decreases and people become inactive with exercise and slowly, but surely weight gain begins. Believe me I know. It has happened to me. I lost 65 pounds from sept 2005-may 2006 with NS. However the last two years life got in the way and I gained back only 35lbs. But that is my fault not NS. The reason for the weight gain is that I decreased my exercise and increase my eating.

So, my point is any weight loss program will help you lose weight, but it is what YOU decide to do after you have successfully lose the weight. The key things that will have you maintain your weight loss after any weight loss program is too:
      1. Stay active
      2. Watch portions
      3. Eat healthy meals
      4. Drink lots of water
      5. Keep cheat meals down to a minimum

Currently, I am working on losing the 35lbs I gained by exercising with the p90X program and eating well balanced and healthy meals that I cook at home. So far I lost 8.5lbs in 7 weeks. So, regardless of what you decide to do in order to get in shape you can lose weight. I hope that helps.

      Sincerely,
      Natasha :)

  18. How long did it take you to lose the weight?

  19. to be more specific…in how long did you start seeing results?

  20. Hello congrats on your achievements! quick question…i was interested to know before i started NS if you ever had any slip ups while on NS?…like did u ever get sick of it and cheat by eating something else?

    • Of course I had slip up along the way with NS. There were times when I cheated, but the thing to remember if you do cheat you have to remember to get back on track with the healthy eating and exercise otherwise you will be back to square one, weight gain :)

  21. I’m 19 years old, i do live on my own and things are really tight right now. Is this program very expensive? I really feel that this program would work for me, but i do have at least fifty pounds to lose. I’ve tried weight watchers but there’s just so much time involved in preparing the food, it’s hard to keep up with it. You look great btw.

  22. hi natasha i am a 24 yr old and i weight at 160 i wanna lose 30 lbs so i can be at my regular weight which was 130. how much did u lose in one week…..are the foods good at all?
