Breast Size After Weight Loss & Weight Training

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket It came across an interesting article by Tosca Reno in the January Issue of Oxygen Magazine on page 66. Tosca Reno, Oxygen’s fabulous 40 something columnist (she looks great for being in her 40′s!!), is the author of The Eat-Clean Diet and new book coming out soon called The Eat-Clean Diet Workout book. She is very inspiring and physically fit for her age. The name of this article is called I’m coming clean where she shares very personal issues that her readers have been asking her. People have been asking her if she has had cosmetic surgery to enhance her body. She says that she hasn’t had liposuction, face lift, tummy tuck, fat grafting at all. However the one thing she admits having done was her breast.

The reason why she explains, “Training hard and eating clean 364 days of the year took a toll on my former 36-B bust line. I kept my body lean and traded away cleavage while I was building curves- a shapely quad sweep: higher, tighter gluts and more. I enjoyed watching the transformation, but I did not like what happened up front. My boobs were floating in her bras.” She also goes on and says that, “this is common among fitness athletes. When you eat clean and training regularly, things get smaller, including the breast. Most of the women you see in the pages of Oxygen have had similar adjustment made because they too keep their bodies so lean. In fact breast augmentation is the most common plastic surgery procedure in North America today. Since breast are mostly fatty tissue they are the first to go when the body becomes lean….”

Can some of you out relate to this issue after losing weight or training? I know I can. I remember at 225lbs by bust size was a 42D and after the weight loss I am at 34b cup which is too small and a 34C is better, but my girls will not even fill the cup. :( I also fail to tell you that when I was at my heaviest I was also nursing too so my breast inflated to an DD. So now they are sagging and lower that they should be. Even when I where a push up bra the girls don’t hold up they sink. (double boo hoo :( ) Can you relate? Have any of you corrected the problem and decided to get a breast lift or augmentation? If so, I would like to now:

  1. The cost?
  2. recovery time?
  3. Are the any follow ups to maintain the implants?
  4. Will the implants have to be replace after a certain amount of time and will it be an additional cost?

The reason why I would like to know is that I am seriously thinking about having the procedure done on my self. I have talked seriously with my husband and he says if that is what I want then go for it, however I know the cost is high and I want to save up for it and have to ability to afford to stay at home during the recovery process. I know this may seem vain to some people, but to lose the weight and feel great physically, but not in the girls is kind of tormenting at times and it would be fabulous to display the bust area in a nice top without worrying if I could fill it. If you live in the Austin, Tx area and had the procedure done and are very pleased with your results, please let some comments of who are where you had the procedure done?

If you are like me too seriously do some research before jumping the gun to fast and make sure this is right for you. Within the next few weeks I will be doing some research myself and consulting with some physicians myself to find out if I want to go through this or not. The thought of surgery scares me. Also during this research I will share with you my findings.

Until then I’ll chat later!!

Hello my names Dawn, it very nice to meet you! I am in a simular situation, i was 150lbs before.. small framed and only 5’2. I was always large breasted do to family genes, i was a large 36D or sometimes DD cup! I have been doing weight training and cardio for over one year now, i am very prowd of my body! I am very smalle framed and weigh now about 100lbs and very happy, and know looking to build more muscle mass! I have the same problem with my girls, unlike yourself i have had no kids and i am only 27 yrs old, they have shrunk really bad to a 34/32 Bcup. There is so much extra skin from the reduction in size, and they dont look so good anymore! I was told that i should see about getting my breat tissues reconnected! I agree with you, i also would love to have my breast done!

    Good Luck
    Dawn

my best friend recently had her breasts augmented, and they came out great, but this is because she went to one of the top doctors in beverly hills (we live in new york city). never put cost first when you are deciding on a SURGICAL procedure that is as invasive as breast implant surgery. people forget it’s a real surgery with real risks. My friend’s surgery cost 12k and if I do it I would go to the same doctor. money should not be an issue when it comes to your body. she is extremely happy with her results, and I have seen some not so great results on friends from lesser doctors. good luck!

    Melody!!

Thank you so much for the information and the cost. I really appreciate that. I totally agree with you about not worry about the cost because it is serious surgery and I would rather pay more than less and have great results.

    many thanks,

    Natasha :)

    Wow

Big decision – but before you consider it have you researched the complications? I am body building and only leaned out signficantly once so far. I kind of liked the reduction in size. But it does come back once you finish leaning for contests or photos if that is what you do. I also am reviewing a product on my site for natural breast enhancement – if you are not in a rush I will finish reviewing and get back to you. I just put it on my site – I had forgotten to move it when I created the new blog.

Being an RN I always hope that people do thorough research before they add foreign objects to their bodies. And it sounds like you are.

There are also a host of implant methods and all different incision sites – I can’t imagine having keyhold incisions around the nipple. And I would worry about loss of senstation and numbness following surgery.

And I guess I would never be thrilled to have great anything – if they aren’t mine.

I would also speak to as many people as you can who have had it and ask a ton of qx – after all you will be paying for it and should be given a lot of time for all and any questions.

By the way great job on losing weight – congrats!

    Good luck!

    Hi there,
My name is Xinora and I’m trying to loose weight but I’m worried about my breast size.
I am 180 pounds. Last year I was 215 pounds.
Curtain parts of my body got smaller like, my legs, sides, back and belly.
But my breast to me stay the same size, it even look more big and fuller since the weight lost.
I’m a 43C and I like my size, but wish they was more lifted and firmer.
Is there a possibility I can loose the weight and lift and firm my breast without my breast size getting smaller?

    • Natasha says:

      Xinora,

That is a hard question because people loose weight in areas differently. All I can say is definitely included weight training in that area to help, but in the long run your body will let you know. I hope that helps.

I had the same problem and post pregnancy got them done…it was expensive but well worth it. You worked hard to get to this point and deserve it!

I got my breast done after having kids and losing weight. Now I am 5’4 ,110pds and 32C. I regret having them done. Shortly after I was implanted I got very sick and developed psoriasis all over my body. I was in perfect health prior..never got sick not even a cold. There is a connection between implants and auto immune diseases.
Please consider your health first and foremost. It is invasive surgery and the implant itself is saline filled in a silicone shell. They recommend we not drink out of plastic bottles because it is bad for your health..so how is implants in your body any different.

  8. I am 54 yo, 5′ 1″ , 236 lbs now, down from 280 lbs. I have been doing strength training even before I started dieting so my skin would not sag once the weight was gone. So far I’m on track and even my breasts are responding well. One should definitely get into strength training when trying to lose weight that way you should be better toned if you don’t take off the weight too quickly that is. Slow and steady is better to get the results you want. There are several websites that provide exercises for the upper body including ones for firmer breasts, even though they are mostly fat, one can get an uplift from the surrounding muscles. Hope this helps anyone thinking about surgery.

I heard about Dr. Foster http://www.bestbreastinthewest.com through his other patients. I also heard about him on breast expert websites and I was very impressed. I am very particular and bothered about the way my body looks, so naturally I only wanted to go to the best plastic surgeon for my breast surgery. Dr. Foster is the best. http://www.bestbreastinthewest.com/html/about.html
