Daily Reflection. . .

Well, another day gone past. What did I do to make the most of it? Not much, just a lot of house chores and play time with my son before work. My eats were not terribly bad. . . What did I eat today?

  1. Breakfast: eggs, whole wheat toast, green tea
  2. Lunch: tuna sandwich on whole wheat toast and raw carrots
  3. Snack: yogurt and almonds
  4. dinner: chicken salad in tortilla with lettuce and tomatoe
  5. Snack: too many chips. ( I am afraid that i will have to ban these from the house because this is the second night that I had a bit too many
  6. Water: 50oz, tea 16oz (mental note increase water intake

Exercise:

  1. 30 minutes elliptical
  2. does running around chasing a child for 20 minutes count?

Tomorrow I really need to weight train my lower half of the body and then I will do some cardio with tae bo fat blasting cardio DVD. Tomorrow will be a better day of making good choices.

My Day. . .Not So Bad, But Will Improve

I can’t complain today wasn’t bad at all. Since yesterday I got back to the basics like watching what I am eating and how much of it I am consuming. It actually was a bit tough starting back to the workouts because I felt so out of shape, but I am over it.

Today, I had to pick up my father in law from the hospital in another city about an 1 and 1/2 from where we live. He had a surgery for a herniated disk, so his recovering fine at home this evening. After that my son and I came home and played the Wii “Cars” game which was fun until DH was home from work. We would have been outside, but it was wet and rainy today. Once he was home I did 30 minutes of step aerobics and then I went for a walk/job with my friend for 45 minutes. My body really needed that. I mean REALLY.

What did I eat today? Not perfect, but it is a start. . .

  1. breakfast: scrambles egg whites with 1 whole egg, whole wheat toast and green tea
  2. meal 2: carrots and turkey with green tea
  3. Meal 3: subway sub with water
  4. dessert: cheesecake
  5. late night snacks (I am trying and will get better) but. . grapes, two 100 calorie dorritos packs, another slice of cake. I know!! I KNOW!!

I know my late night snacks were not the best choices, but I am logging this so I can figure out my problems areas. (However, I know what the problem is, “late night eating”. So, basically I am taking each day at a time, so that I do not stress myself out too much. The great thing about today is that my body is finally releasing some of the water weight. Yey!! I was feeling thick!! Thick like Stay Puff Marshmallow Man. hee hee :)

Moment of truth . . So, where is my weight? Okay. . . . I am at 177lbs! It is crazy how I can gain 10lbs in a months time with all of my stress I was going through mid July and Early August. But Wow!! I realized it was getting out of control and I can not let life get in the way of my health. I worked too hard to get at the weight I love and I will NEVER go back to that unhappy 230lbs woman ever again. So, I said it and now I WILL work at it like I said earlier. I am working on getting back to 160lbs, but I am going to take each pound at a time. Well, I better get to bed. Another thing I am working on is getting more sleep. I would stay up until 1:00am and get up at 7:00 and I can not do that anymore. When I am not rested my body and mind do not perform well. So, with that said. Good night to all and I will chat later!!

8 Week Slimdown: Must Temporarily Stop

Well, all thank you so much for all of you support regarding my dad. He is recovering from surgery now and doing well. Thank you so much!!

What’s new? Last week I had my physical and my results came in this week regarding my lab work. My doctor told me that that my blood work is showing me slightly anemic, so as a result, they are running more test to see if I have an iron deficiency or what? In the meantime we were discussing my diet and I told her about this plan I am on now. She told me that the plan sound healthy, but she would rather me go back to a more balance diet like zone, or nutrisystem similar diet right now until we figure out what’s wrong with me :( which means I temporarily have to stop. I am not too upset, because I have been wondering why I have been feeling so darn tired lately. So, ladies and gents make sure you see your doctor yearly on these types of health issues. You never know.

To top that off, last Friday I was at work setting up visuals for sephora and got box fibers on my face which caused an allergic reaction for real!! My entire face was rashed and my neck line too. So my doctor prescribed prednisone which is known to make you retain water and gain wait. Needless to say my scale is up to 169. Damn!!

But you know what I will not be negative about that. I will focus on a solution and work it. I know how to eat healthy with a balanced diet so I will just get back to the basics and if it takes a bit longer to lose the weigh oh well. At least I will be losing! Right?

Anyway, I am off to take some meds and get some sleep. I have been tired due to lack of sleep since my little one is sick too. He is getting more adult teeth in for 4 & 1/2 years of age, so he is getting a fever along with that and season allergies too. Poor kiddo. I just pray this will past fast. I love my energetic child.

8 Week Slimdown: Week 2

Well. . . Week 2 result was not as big as the first week, but I was expecting that for sure. However I am happy with my results. I ended up losing 1lbs this week bring me to 166 and I am happy with that.

  • Week 1: 167lbs (-5lbs)
  • Week 2: 166lbs (-1lb)
  • week 3: ?????? Stay tune!!!

So going into week 3 I am going to increase my efforts especially in my weight training and increase the weights so that I can continue to build more muscle in order to burn more fat. So stay tuned. .

How am I feeling today? Blah. . I just found out that my dad is back in the hospital again. In addition to his other health problems he also has an irregular heart beat which brought him back. Today I just found out that they will have to operate and place a stint/fibulator in his heart to help with the irregularities. I ask will he be okay during the surgery and they told me that if they thought his health would compromise anything they would not do the surgery. So, he is good to go.

Wow, it is hard sometimes to hear stuff like this because you think your parents are super human, but the reality is we all are not and are bodies can decline over the years. Please say a prayer for my dad.

Well, I better get to my first meal of the day which is very important and that is breakfast. eggs, cream of rice and grean tea. My next meal will be in 2 hours. hee hee

8 Week Summer SlimDown

8 Week Summer SlimDown

I think I am ready for a challenge now. I was thinking to myself today, that I need something new to try. A different workout plan, meal plan, and mind set to follow. I feel like I am doing the same thing with eating and workouts and I am boring myself to death. So I decided to hop on my favorite site which is bodybuilding.com and believe me it has been a long time since I have visited this site.

However, I came across this 8 week summer slimdown plan to follow in order for me to reach my goal and not lose focus. I like that it maps out a eating plan and workout to following which I feel I need right now. Something to follow and say hey Natasha do this today or cook this today to get me going. The article is by Myron Miekle a bodybuilder himself check out his site.

Now, I am contemplating should I start this plan effective tomorrow? Or wait until the 4th of July celebrating is over? I am thinking, I am not going to over eat anyway, because I do not want to screw up my week. So I guess why not start tomorrow? Check this out and if you are up for a challenge join me and we can do it together. Well I better get my grocery list together so that I can have everything ready to get started.

Wii Fitness Titles Jillian Michaels’ Fitness Ultimatum

Wii Fitness Titles Jillian Michaels’ Fitness Ultimatum

Jillian MichaelsHey you all. I was just reading on the net today and came across this interesting information that is really making me want to purchase the Wii fit system NOW!. Majesco announced on June 12th the launch of the Fitness Ultimatum 2009 with Julian Michaels as the fitness coach for this holiday 2008. Do you all not how fierce her workouts are? Oh my gosh!! check out this site called Gamasutra.com for more info regarding this new info. I am totally talking to DH to purchase the Wii Fit system this month!!

We have the Nintendo Wii Console and it is loads of fun. So far we have the wii spots which is filled with interactive games like bowling, golf, tennis, and many more and the Guitar hero III. The other day my son and I was at the mall and they had a Wii fit section displayed with experts to show you how to use the system and you can actually play on the equipment too. Man did I get a workout. I think this will help with that workout boredom that I get from doing the same thing most of the time. Anyone of you have this system yet? How would you rate it?

Weight Gain With Using Oral Contraceptives?

Weight Gain With Using Oral Contraceptives?

This post is for all of my friends that are getting ready for their next figure or fitness competitions this summer. I was catching up on my reading of my Oxygen magazine which is a awesome resource for womens fitness. Let me tell you I am so behind in my readings. I have already received my August issue and I am currently on June and July’s. Wow!

Anyway on page 28 of the July issue they talked about oral contraceptives and weight gain. What the article talked is as follows:

Studies on physically active women have found that oral contraceptives, when taken as a single fixed dose of estrogen or as multiple does over the entire menstrual cycle, increase body mass and body fat percentage. One study, published in American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, found that women gain almost 4.5 pounds within six month of going on the pill.

I was like what? Now, take it I have been on the pill since I will 16 years of age and after starting the pill I did notice a increase of weight gain over the years the first fews years. Keep in mind I was an active cheerleader, in track and played volleyball for fun over the summer months to keep in shape. I remember going up a dress size going into to my Junior year in high school. Sucks! Anyway the article continues:

They say that the weight gain did not seem to be permanent; once you stop taking the pill the weight appears to drop within a month. So, if you are preparing for a fitness or figure competition maybe consider stopping the pill at least a month prior to going on stage. (Just don’t have sex)

Oxygen Magazine, July issue, page 28

I tend to agree with that part. To this day I am a current pill user and let me tell during the week when I am just taking the placebo pill which is during the time of the month my weight drops big time. I mean like 3-4 pounds in a week with exercise and healthy clean eating. Then when I start popping those pills again the weight begins to creep a bit, but with diet and exercise I can keep it under control. Oh well, I can’t stop having sex and my DH and I are happy with our one child so far, lol.

Update On My Dad

Hey all! Thanks for your prayer regarding my dad. I spoke with him early yesterday morning and he is at home recovering. Late yesterday he went in for his MRI, so that the doctors can find a way to operate on his leg to clear his artery. I hope that they can find away, so that my dad can continue to do his walking like he enjoy and visit with family.

Today I am meeting with a friend for lunch. You know I will be ordering a nice small salad so that I don’t run into the over eating thing again. No way! Then later I will visit with grandpa. Maybe he may keep him Friday and then this weekend we are off to the beach and fun for the weekend!! Well, I really better get breakfast started and my plan for exercise will be tae bo amped and 20-25 minutes on the elliptical today!

It’s all most the weekend! Yey!!

Nat-

My Scale is Up! I Wonder Why? Oh, I know why.

Okay, I was just sitting thinking why in the hell has my scale has not moved into the 160′s this week. I ate healthy, and exercised religiously then I thought what did I eat on  Sunday:? You all are going to kill me. Start sending the cyber butt kicking my way please.

  1. Meal 1: Protein shake (200 cals)
  2. Meal 2: Mediterranean chicken salad from La madeleine. {this salad consists of a bed of lettuce, cucumbers, olives, artichokes, feta cheese and grilled chicken along with a vinaigrette dressing. I ate the whole thing thinking it was low in calories, WRONG!! The entire salad is 710 calories. Stupid! Mental note only eat half
  3. Meal 3: So bad .  . A Chuychanga from Chuy’s. Cals lets say 1200 w/ the beans and rice. Yikes!!
  4. Meal 4: ice cream 250 cals totaling: 2360 cals and what I should be eating min 1300-1500 cals for weight loss and for maintenance for me should be 1600-1700 cals per day.

Lets just say I messed up and I will need to watch Portions again in order to enjoy these item from time to time. I am not saying that you can never have these items, but next time  since I found out the calories count will definitely eat only half the salad and half of the meal so that my calories will not mess up a good days workout and a week of hard work in weight loss.

Where is the scale at as of today. I don’t want to even say it but I will be honest, 173. Grr!! So here we go again to get it down and then some by June 30th. I can do it!!

Today my plan is:

Meals:

  1. Meal 1: poached eggs, turkey sausage, and half banana
  2. Meal 2: Protein shake after my tae bo amped workout
  3. Meal 3: String cheese and 1 serving of grapes
  4. Meal 4: Grilled chicken, salad and green beans
  5. Meal 5: Kashi lean bar with fruit

Well, I am off to play with my little one and try to take a nap when he does. I was up late until 3:00am. I found out my dad (lives in Wisconsin) was rushed to the hospital late last night. He could not breath, not to mention he has congestive heart failure and diabetes too. Later I come to find out that he may have had  an allergic reaction to a medication that was prescribed to him very recently from what the nurse explained to me. It a mess. He also has a clogged artery in his left leg the he will need to go into surgery for too. So please say a prayer for him please. I was so sad and almost went on a emotional food binge, but I stopped myself. Sorry to babble. Just needed to vent a bit. Chat later

Nat :)
