happy_new_year_10Happy New Year everyone!! I hope that you all had a great time bringing it in. I certainly did. My father in law decided to ring in the New Year with our son, so that meant that DH and I rang the New Year in as a couple. I was so much fun!! We stayed up until 2:00a.m.!! Don’t laugh. I don’t remember that last time we have done that and to top that off we slept in until 10:00am. It was so nice!

So, with all of the New Year celebrating and Christmas eating where am I now? Honestly I gained back the 6lbs I lost. I found this out after weighing myself after Christmas day. So DH and I started out New Years day exercising and eating healthy and now I am proud to say that I have 2 more pound to go! With that  I will be back to my pre-Christmas weight of 178lbs!! Yeay!!

Now DH and I made our New Years resolutions and one of them is to get back to our goal weights by March 1st. So it is on!! I am excited too. 160 here I come!!! We both took our before pics and I will post them one March 1st, so that you all can see the before and afters.

Many are asking what are you eating? Well, I like to cook, so I am preparing meals for the two of us that are similar to Nutrisystem’s guidelines, low glycemic, low carbs and such. Then we are also working out together. That’s mean weight training to build muscle in order to burn more fat and cardio!!

Today I will be doing step aerobics for 30 minutes and when DH gets home from work I will be doing some weight training. He always have a great circuit to go by. Well, I will be going for now. I got to take down the Christmas tree and workout before my little one comes home from school.

Have a great day!!!

Weight Loss News November 21st, 2008

Those with eating disorders at higher risk for substance abuse

Earlier this year we saw a flurry of news reports about an increasing trend among college women to skip meals and save calories so they can drink alcohol without worrying about gaining weight.

Alarm bells went off and many parents began questioning their daughters about this dangerous combination of binge drinking and self-starvation. Whether to classify this behavior as an eating disorder remains up for debate. What is certain, however, is that eating disorders and substance abuse are often linked.

Consider these statistics from a groundbreaking study released in 2003 by The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University:

• Individuals with eating disorders are up to five times more likely to abuse alcohol or illicit drugs.

Water Make you Lose Weight

Many people need to lose some weight, that’s a fact. Look around where people gather, you’ll notice the fat. Don’t laugh. Unfortunately you’re likely to see it in the mirror too. If you’ve made fast weight loss your goal, keep a few simple things in mind to lose the pounds quickly and safely.

When people want to lose weight one of the most common things they do is to skip meals. Hey, if eating fewer calories is the goal then why not skip breakfast or lunch. Doesn’t weight loss come with eating less calories? That’s correct but skipping meals isn’t the right way to reduce calories. Your body thinks it’s being starved when you skip meals. It goes into “starvation” mode. It starts to retain fat to counteract what it perceives as being starved. Another problem with skipping meals is that when you finally eat you’ll be a lot more hungry. This could lead to binge eating. Skipping meals is the worst of both worlds that results in gaining even more weight. Don’t do it.

Well, I am at home from work today. I had to take time off because my son woke up sick with a fever and diarrhea plus post allergies systems too. Yuck. This boy is explosive today, that’s all I can say. But I will be mommy and make sure he get better. While at home I managed to take him to the grocery store and did all of my shopping and thanksgiving shopping too, so I am happy about that!! I should only have to go to the store and get produce and that’s it!! I Hate waiting to the last minute to do my thanksgiving shopping. Why? Well everyone is shopping for once and then the store seems to be out of stock of the essentials I need to prepare my meal.

I have to say this week has been challenging, but I am proud of my self for committing to 4 day of cardio and weight training for this week. I also watched my calories, and drink 64 oz of water each day thus far. It takes a lot to get the mind ready to reach the weight loss goal in mind, but when I am ready there is not stopping me. So, I am excited. I hope on the scale and I am already seeing good numbers, but I will reserve that until I weigh in on Monday.

My goal for the rest of the week is to keep my calorie intake steady, so that I don’t slip up and gain over the weekend. I will accomplish this by planning my meals daily.

Today’s Menu:

  1. Breakfast: protein bar and banana: 250
  2. Lunch: Weight watchers lemon chicken w/ rice 230+ salad: 280
  3. Snack: Yogurt 160+ blackberries: 200
  4. Dinner: Chicken Breast, green beans, salad: 275
  5. Dessert: Weight watcher ice cream: 170

total: 1180 calories (a little short, so I will added on fat free whipped cream!!)

exercise: Off for the weekend unless the family decides to go for a walk in the neighborhood. Otherwise, the workouts resume on Sunday night!

Have a great day :)

When you become truly self motivational you realize that success is not a destination it is something within you. It is the self motivational attitude that you take to every aspect of your life. Not just the big things but the every day mundane things to. Success is not something you grab a hold of, pin down then show off as some kind of trophy which some less than self motivational people have come to view it. Successful people don’t just achieve success they live it on a daily basis. Many definitions of success describe it as a journey. However I believe it is more than a journey and is in fact a life style and indeed a self motivational life style choice.

Success leaves clues, here is a list of some of the success clues to look for:
1 Focused on worthy goals
2 Self motivational to work towards them (not just looking for short cuts)
3 Pushing for high standards but not bogged down in seeking perfection
4 Seeing the big picture while attending to the detail
5 Persistence is the self motivational watchword
6 Balancing the need for big step change with incremental improvement
7 Holding the gains in success not backsliding into old behaviours
8 Helping others, particularly less fortunate, set and achieve their goals
9 Commitment to delivering on promises
10 Knowing that your goal is still there after the buffeting storms subside
11 Not surrendering control to others by losing your temper
12 Seeing hate and abuse from others as a gift you choose not to accept from them
13 Refuse to acknowledge failure and see it as a learning experience
14 Forge alliances with those who will commit to supporting your goals
15 Knowing that everyone has within them the resources to achieve their goals
16 Realizing that success is a self motivational choice you make not made for you
17 Seeing money as a scorecard to the energy you create in the world not success itself
18 Respect others and their vision of success even when you can’t agree with them
19 Living in the now and valuing every moment of every day
20 Valuing health as the great generator for a self motivational and successful life style

To be self motivational and adopt a success lifestyle you need to be a detective looking for clues. My list above is not meant to be comprehensive but merely a starting point to begin your quest. To get some further clues have a look at this self motivational booklist I compiled.

A lot of people have been asking me why I want six pack abs. I always answer them back with the question, who doesn’t? If you want to look good physically, you must work hard for it. Sacrifices have to be made and you need to know enough information about the right six pack exercises as well as the proper nutritional diet, which will help you reach your goal.

There are different reasons which can motivate anyone to start a regular exercise routine of abdominal workouts. Some people want to tighten the muscles around their stomach to look good and some are just plain health buffs. Motivation is one factor that plays an important role in your success to get a flat stomach.

Exercises to lose weight is probably the most difficult task you may encounter. However, you can try different cardiovascular exercises and abdominal workouts in order to be fit and get that flat abs. Remember that proper nutrition is important to reduce your body fat. If you eat healthy and exercise regularly, getting washboard abs is not as hard as it may seem.

Want to use some muscle supplements? They seem great don’t they? They have flashy labels and catchy infomercials on TV where they show people amazing results. WRONG. Almost all of fancy supplements or diet pills which are supposed to make you lose fat is just a complete waste of money. There are no “magic pills” that will instantly make you lose the layer of fat without you sweating it out or working hard for it.

The fact is you don’t need supplements or pills to get the rockin’ body you want. Knowing how your diet affects your six pack abs is the first step. Follow it up with a commitment to perform a full body exercise regimen that helps burn fat.

We are not talking about boring treadmill or other cardio-based workouts here. You want to focus more on strength training exercises such as lunges, squats, dead-lifts, step-ups, swings and snatches. These types of exercises work every muscle in your body and burn the fat at a higher rate than cardio alone.

So, next time you’re off to do another six pack ab workout, keep these ideas in mind. Getting your six pack quest is a lofty goal – and one that is achievable, but you must be willing to literally run the extra mile. Learn more about successful weight loss and effective exercise regimen so you could put an end to your battle against weight loss permanently.

Hey all, it has been another hot minute since I have chatted with you all, huh? I am enjoying life way too much but that’s not so bad right? My mom, was here visiting from Wisconsin last week. I haven’t seen here in over a year, so I was soooooo excited to see her. We celebrated our son’s 5th birthday on Saturday at chuck e cheese which was a blast. My son loves Star wars and he racked up on the light sabers and star wars toys.

Then this past Sunday my mom and I had a wonderful mother daughter day shopping at the outlets. We had such a great time shopping, but when it came time to try on clothes all I can say is YIKES!! It funny through my mom and I are the same size which means we both gained the same amount of weight except for God has blessed her with the breasts and gave me all the booty, lol. Now, I still weight 180 which puts me from a size 8 to a 10/12. So lets just say I did not buy a lot of clothes because I did not want to get used to being in a 12.

So, now I will punish myself and wear my tight 10’s for now. Why? because it gives me a daily reminder to make smarter choices with eating the right portion of foods, exercise, drinking lots of water, and learning again to eat only when hungry and not snacking. I can do this and I will and I now how. With that said here is my outline for today:

meals:

  1. Breakfast: 1 turkey sausage- 120 cals, 2 poached eggs- 160 cals, and 1 serving of blueberries 60 cals total: 340 cals
  2. Lunch: Protein shake 200 cals & 1/2 banana 60 cals: total 260
  3. Snack: String cheese: 60 cals & grapes 70 cals: 130 cals
  4. Dinner: weight watcher’s chicken oriental 230 cals, salad 50 cals, and asparagus 26: total: 306
  5. Dessert: South Beach chocolate pudding 100 cals banana 60 (1/2)

total cals: 1196

Water: goal 64 oz

Exercise: 30 minutes of Jillian Michaels DVD and 20 minutes of the elliptical

Well, I am off to conquer my list of things before my son gets home from school. Until next time have a safe and healthy day!

I can’t complain today wasn’t bad at all. Since yesterday I got back to the basics like watching what I am eating and how much of it I am consuming. It actually was a bit tough starting back to the workouts because I felt so out of shape, but I am over it.

Today, I had to pick up my father in law from the hospital in another city about an 1 and 1/2 from where we live. He had a surgery for a herniated disk, so his recovering fine at home this evening. After that my son and I came home and played the Wii “Cars” game which was fun until DH was home from work. We would have been outside, but it was wet and rainy today. Once he was home I did 30 minutes of step aerobics and then I went for a walk/job with my friend for 45 minutes. My body really needed that. I mean REALLY.

What did I eat today? Not perfect, but it is a start. . .

  1. breakfast: scrambles egg whites with 1 whole egg, whole wheat toast and green tea
  2. meal 2: carrots and turkey with green tea
  3. Meal 3: subway sub with water
  4. dessert: cheesecake
  5. late night snacks (I am trying and will get better) but. . grapes, two 100 calorie dorritos packs, another slice of cake. I know!! I KNOW!!

I know my late night snacks were not the best choices, but I am logging this so I can figure out my problems areas. (However, I know what the problem is, “late night eating”. So, basically I am taking each day at a time, so that I do not stress myself out too much. The great thing about today is that my body is finally releasing some of the water weight. Yey!! I was feeling thick!! Thick like Stay Puff Marshmallow Man. hee hee :)

Moment of truth . . So, where is my weight? Okay. . . . I am at 177lbs! It is crazy how I can gain 10lbs in a months time with all of my stress I was going through mid July and Early August. But Wow!! I realized it was getting out of control and I can not let life get in the way of my health. I worked too hard to get at the weight I love and I will NEVER go back to that unhappy 230lbs woman ever again. So, I said it and now I WILL work at it like I said earlier. I am working on getting back to 160lbs, but I am going to take each pound at a time. Well, I better get to bed. Another thing I am working on is getting more sleep. I would stay up until 1:00am and get up at 7:00 and I can not do that anymore. When I am not rested my body and mind do not perform well. So, with that said. Good night to all and I will chat later!!

I think I am ready for a challenge now. I was thinking to myself today, that I need something new to try. A different workout plan, meal plan, and mind set to follow. I feel like I am doing the same thing with eating and workouts and I am boring myself to death. So I decided to hop on my favorite site which is bodybuilding.com and believe me it has been a long time since I have visited this site.

However, I came across this 8 week summer slimdown plan to follow in order for me to reach my goal and not lose focus. I like that it maps out a eating plan and workout to following which I feel I need right now. Something to follow and say hey Natasha do this today or cook this today to get me going. The article is by Myron Miekle a bodybuilder himself check out his site.

Now, I am contemplating should I start this plan effective tomorrow? Or wait until the 4th of July celebrating is over? I am thinking, I am not going to over eat anyway, because I do not want to screw up my week. So I guess why not start tomorrow? Check this out and if you are up for a challenge join me and we can do it together. Well I better get my grocery list together so that I can have everything ready to get started.
