A Pilates Fitness Ball is an exercise ball with dimensions of 55 cm, 65 cm, and 75 cm. All sizes do not fit all. Make sure you buy one of the correct size. As a rule of thumb when sitting on the ball your thighs should be parallel with the floor.
The ball is made of a light PVC polymer and has been around since the early 60s. An Italian plastics producer by the name of Aquilino Cosani perfected the process for making the puncture resistant balls. They are commonly referred to as Swiss balls even though they were originally created in Italy and known as Pezzi balls. The conversion came when a British doctor started using them in therapy for newborn babies in Switzerland. The applications extended to physical therapy at the Physical Therapy School in Basel Switzerland, thus when the practice arrived at the United States the balls were referred to as Swiss. It would not be long before the benefit of using these balls in exercise was apparent.
With so much equipment to pick from on a daily basis, you may be curious why you would want something as simple as a ball. This is an excellent question and the answer is for core strengthening. The act of balancing on the ball whilst exercising increases your core strength.
Remember your core is the center of your body and thereby an essential area to exercise. The core controls your posture and a strong one allows you to have a better balance and alignment. All your other movements are governed by the core therefore having a strong core will assist you in your workouts. That is why you should build a strong core and the Pilates exercise ball is perfect for doing just that. When you exercise on the unstable surface of a Pilates exercise ball your body must use more muscles to keep you balanced. Over time, the back and abdominal muscles become stronger due to being challenged by the ball.
If your looking for a cheap way to help make your workouts more challenging and enjoyable then you need look no further than a Pilates Fitness Ball.
fat loss foods
A fat burning diet takes simple preparation, combining the right foods eaten at a set time on a daily basis. Low calorie diets may show success at first but a process known as a “dieting plateau” kicks in creating frustration and sending a lot of people back to old habits.
What you need to do is know what foods are thermogenic and start a fat burning diet.
Thermogenic fat burning foods are lean protein from solid foods including boneless, skinless chicken & turkey breast. Thermogenic is the body core rising caused by other sources creating calorie burning and higher metabolism.
High protein game meats like buffalo, elk, venison and bison are very lean red meats similar to top round and lean sirloin (the free-range, grass fed and organic varieties are especially beneficial).
Most freshwater fish, shellfish and other seafood are an advantage as well. Natural and organic [not compulsory] egg whites [or egg beaters] without the yolks is another great protein source.
Food Fact: 1 oz of almonds have 170 calories with 6 grams of carbs, 5 grams of protein & 15 grams of GOOD fat
Artificial weight loss products are not necessary when combining exercise and these fat burning foods. Losing your desired amount of weight is ten times easier after changing eating habits.
Hey all, what a week last week trying to get back into weight loss mode and eating healthy again. I had some struggles like trying not to eat late at night. Man! It was had, because I was getting hungry so fast because my body was used to eating whatever it wanted whenever. So, the hungry was expected. Other than that the exercise surprisingly was fun to do again too!
So, what are my results from my hard work? Well, I am down -2lbs this week!! Yeah! I am happy with that and can’t wait to see more loss next week too. I am really going to discipline my eating over thanksgiving. I will enjoy, but at moderation. Here what I have ingrained in my head for thanksgiving:
I will drink all 64oz of water to avoid over eating
I will eat my 5 meals that day to avoid eating too much at thanksgiving dinner
I will have dessert, but make a choice and eat smaller portions. This way I will feel like I am not depriving myself
I will workout the morning of thanksgiving while my turkey is roasting way in the oven.
I will go for a post thanksgiving walk after dinner to burn off extra calories too.
I feel that by setting these goals in my mind a head of time I will not fail myself and have a successful weigh in next week Monday. What are you going to do? Have you thought about your thanksgiving day strategy if you are currently try to loose weight? You should so that you will not sabotage you awesome successes.
Anyway, I am out for now. My son is off from school for thanksgiving break and he wants to play Jedi’s and I need to hop my butt on the elliptical fast!!
The general public should consume foods that are high in antioxidants, but they first need to understand what herbal antioxidants are and what health benefits they offer.
Antioxidants are essential to one’s overall health and well being. Antioxidants are phytochemicals, vitamins and other nutrients that protect the body’s cells from damage that is caused by free radicals. These free radicals are atoms or groups of atoms with an odd number of electrons and which are formed when oxygen interacts with certain molecules.
The antioxidants can safely interact with free radicals and they work by terminating the chain reaction before any vital molecules in the body are damaged.
Since a variety of foods contain high amounts of antioxidants and are also nutritious, it is better to use food and not supplements to raise antioxidant levels. Dietary supplements are not as nutritionally effective as antioxidant-rich real foods. Surprisingly, many such foods are rather tasty to boot.
Foods high in antioxidants include berries, broccoli, tomatoes, garlic, spinach, tea, carrots, soy, whole grain, red grapes, and cabbage. Foods that contain elevated levels of antioxidants are at present wonder foods of choice, it ought to remain this way due to the fact that these foods are what will promote peoples high levels of health.
Foods with high amounts of antioxidants are very healthy because, among other things, they fight off free radicals. They also help to provide a person with the nutrition that they need by offering them the right vitamins and minerals.
Any fruit or vegetable that has a bright color is also high in antioxidants, also certain foods like blueberries or chocolate are even higher in dietary antioxidants and are incredibly nutritious, but also high in oxalic acid. Because oxalic acid binds to some other valuable nutrients and makes them not available for digestion, this can be harmful to the body.
It is important for people to pack foods high in antioxidants into their diet to increase lifespan and the overall quality of life.
Well, I am at home from work today. I had to take time off because my son woke up sick with a fever and diarrhea plus post allergies systems too. Yuck. This boy is explosive today, that’s all I can say. But I will be mommy and make sure he get better. While at home I managed to take him to the grocery store and did all of my shopping and thanksgiving shopping too, so I am happy about that!! I should only have to go to the store and get produce and that’s it!! I Hate waiting to the last minute to do my thanksgiving shopping. Why? Well everyone is shopping for once and then the store seems to be out of stock of the essentials I need to prepare my meal.
I have to say this week has been challenging, but I am proud of my self for committing to 4 day of cardio and weight training for this week. I also watched my calories, and drink 64 oz of water each day thus far. It takes a lot to get the mind ready to reach the weight loss goal in mind, but when I am ready there is not stopping me. So, I am excited. I hope on the scale and I am already seeing good numbers, but I will reserve that until I weigh in on Monday.
My goal for the rest of the week is to keep my calorie intake steady, so that I don’t slip up and gain over the weekend. I will accomplish this by planning my meals daily.
I was asked recently by someone posting on my self improvement blog what were the best self motivational books I have read. Although there are several thousand self motivational books published each year I have come to the conclusion that there is very little that can be added to the many words of self motivational wisdom that have been written over the last century and a half. From the early pioneers like Napoleon Hill to today’s monumental giants like Tony Robbins.
It was said, I think by the latter of these two gurus, that we arrive on this planet without an instruction manual. I think for that reason alone there is not just a thirst for knowledge but a greater need for a guide to how to survive life which drives the market for self improvement books. You don’t need to have suffered a deep psychological trauma to want to invest in one of these guides. But for those who say you can’t deal with serious issues like depression then I disagree. Where my own doctor and a clinical psychologist were unable to help me a number of the books on my all time classic list gave me the support to get my life back on track.
However its not reading self motivational books that gets results its taking action on the advice that is given therein. So my advice is read a small amount of self motivational books but take a lot of action if you want to significantly improve your life.
Can self motivational books bring happiness? Now there is a million dollar question! Depends on your definition of happiness of course. Many people would define it as achieving a certain amount of wealth. However as many wealthy people often say the wealth in and of itself doesn’t bring happiness. In addition have you ever noticed that wealthy people never seem satisfied with what they have got and continually seek to make more and more money.
The truth is that happiness is not a destination it is more likely to be a state of continually striving to achieve goals, achieving them and setting more goals to strive to achieve. If thats your definition then I think self motivational books will help you and my list of all time classics have certainly helped me in that respect. There are many out there who will disagree with my choice of self improvement books and have their own favorites all I can say to them is that these are the ones that gave me the focus and the necessary poke in the ribs to take action and I still revisit them for ideas.
I can not believe it has been 7 days till my last post. You better believe I have not been up to my best behavior and that explains why the scale peaked up to 179 this week. EKKK!! So in horror of returning back to the big and unhealthy me I started to eat a bit better and today I actually got back to my cardio routine!!! I am not kidding! I did 40 minutes of Billy Blanks Fat blasting cardio w/o the billy bands. Why? I am soooo out of shape. I tired the first 15 minutes with them and I was huffing and puffing, so I took them off and continued to exercise!! Yey!!
I am so glad that I did exercise in order to back my routine of laziness creeping in. I was going to sit on the couch and watch a soap opera while my son sleeps, but instead I decided to take that time and use it wisely. I am so proud of myself!! My eats have been good to today.
Meals:
yogurt, banana, eggs
chicken salad with fruit
apple and string cheese
dinner will be chicken with broccoli
Not too bad considering I took my son for his weekly fun meal to Mc Donalds and I did not order a darn thing!! YES!!! Well, I just had to post what was going on, now I have to get ready to retail hell for a few hours. I hope that you all are doing well and I will chat later.
