The insanity workout program is a new exercise system which is gaining much acclaim from fitness professionals and is becoming more widely used.  The insanity workout can be completed by anyone with a DVD player and requires little additional gear beyond the initial DVD purchase.  The insanity workout program focuses largely on interval training and proper form.

The insanity system is a 60 day program which is broken down into 9 DVD’s.  The first month of workouts has 5 DVD’s in total each of which contain a daily workout.  The first month of workouts focuses largely on aerobic and anaerobic interval training which helps to build total body conditioning.  The 5 DVD’s for the first month are as follows:

  • Plyometric Cardio Circuit – This is a 40 minute workout which focuses on burning body fat using cardio intervals.
  • Pure Cardio – This is a 40 minute extreme cardio workout which does not allow for any rests.
  • Cardio Recovery – This 35 minute workout focuses on recovering your tired muscles to prepare for more cardio
  • Cardio Abs – This high intensity workout lasts for 20 minutes and focuses on burning fat and building a strong core.
  • Core Cardio & Balance – This workout will be used daily for a full week and is a 40 minute cardio session.

After the first month, the workouts get much more intense and are still oriented towards circuit and interval training.  A summary of the second month’s 4 DVD’s are as follows:

  • Max Interval Circuit – In this 60 minute workout the circuit get much more challenging than the first month.
  • Max Cardio Conditioning – This workout is a difficult 50 minute cardio session.
  • Max Interval Plyometrics – This 55 minute workout focuses largely on strengthening your legs through plyometrics.
  • Max Recovery – This 50 minute workout focuses on muscle recovery and stretching.

  1. They say Insanity is the toughest workout ever put on DVD and trust me it is. Just make sure you have some sort of fitness base before trying to tackle Insanity. It is not for the beginner or someone who has not worked out in years. Insanity is extreme cardio and an advanced program.
