I was at foodnetwork.com and they gave great visual pictures of what a portion size of certain foods would be equivalent too. for example : A serving of chicken is equivalent to a deck of cards. See below. Here is the link to the site.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket I just opened up an awesome e-mail from Calorie Count.com and I was look I have got to share this with you all that are losing weight and getting healthy. They say “Imagine you’re in a fast food restaurant and are forced into choosing a meal from a menu of terrible choices. Fear not! Just whip out your cell phone, enter ccm.about.com into the mobile browser, and you’ll have the entire food database of this site at your fingertips!” This new site is specifically designed to meet the requirements of almost all WAP or web-enabled phones sold in the United States. This includes MOTORAZRs, Qs, Blackberries, and hundreds of other handhelds.

Regardless of which phone you use, just open its browser and point it to ccm.about.com. Please share that link with your friends and family. The easiest way is to send them a text message mentioning http://ccm.about.com - when you append “http://”, most phones recognize this is a web address and will convert it to a clickable link inside of your text message.

Isn’t that cool/ No more fretting over how many calories your are eating when you are enjoy a night out with friends. You can make smart choices right from your cell phone. I am definitely going to use this for Christmas and New Years Eve Celebrating and you should too. Check this out!!!

The holiday season is now among us, It is very simple to worry about gaining back the weight you have spent significant time and energy into losing. I was fortunate to lose my weight on Nutrisystem, but I understand that everyone does not have that luxury. Here are some tips to help you avoid putting on much, if any, weight during your holiday celebrations.

1. FILL UP ON MORE SENSIBLE FOODS Foods that are high in fiber or water fill you up quickly and help keep you from over eating on empty calories that will make you eat more in the long run. Take an extra scoop of vegetables and fruit when filling your plate, and by the time you finish, you won’t have the space in your tummy for the other foods which are higher in calories and more likely to cause you to gain weight.

2. Control Your Portion Size I am sure that everything at the table will look good, and it’s can become very easy to keep from filling your plate 2-3 times so that you can sample everything. An easy way to combat this urge is to simply take a smaller portion size you normally would take of your favorite dishes you are most intrigued by, especially belt-bursting desserts. Split a piece of Chocolate mousse or cheesecake with your significant other, friend, or any other relative who may be watching his or her weight during the holidays.

3. DRINK AROUND, DURING, AND BETWEEN MEALS Drink a fair amount of water or other unsweetened beverage before each meal, as well as during and between them. The liquid in your stomach will help trick your mind into not feeling as hungry, which reduces the tendency to gorge yourself on potentially fattening foods.

4. POSITION YOURSELF AWAY FROM THE SNACKS Think about this for a second. If you place yourself within an arm’s reach of the snack table, you’re going to put your self in a bad situation of unconsciously grabbing handfuls of party mix, candies, and the like and picking at them all day. By placing yourself into a activity such as a card game or charades, getting to the snacks involves a conscious effort into getting up and walking over to get at the snacks.

5. TAKE AN EXERCISE BREAK If the weather allows for it, go out and take a brisk walk around the house or block. If your celebration is taking place in a colder climate, you’ll be more inspired to quicken your pace and shed off a few extra calories in the process. If the weather will not allow for this activity, do 10-20 squats, stretches, simply turn on the tunes and get everyone dancing to some fast paced music, it will be fun!. You only want to do enough to elevate your heart rate, but not break out into a sweat. Chances are, no one will know what you are up to, and you won’t have to feel self-conscious about trying to maintain yourfigure.

However, if you just happened to put on a few extra pounds, don’t frustrated and give up over it. If you have been following a sensible diet and exercise plan, most likely any weight you did gain is going to come off shortly after the holidays are over.

What a nice day today even though I had to work this evening. What did you do with your day? I hope something fun or relaxing.

Guess what? Yesterday I came home from work and my Tae bo amped arrived!! So, when I got home from work today and changed clothes and gave my little one a kiss before night, night. I worked out to the Full throttle DVD in my 5 DVD workout series that came in the kit. Man! I did the first 30 minutes. Now, the DVD is a full 55 minute, and I was sweating like a pig! I was a great workout with cardio and strength training in one. This workout had my arms burnin’ and my legs too! The amped bar was a little quirky to figure out, but I am not complaining it wasn’t that expensive to begin with. I like the music to the workout and it was fun. I will definitely do the entire workout for my cardio on Tuesday! Well, I better run, sorry so short, but I am sleepy and I have a lot to do tomorrow before going to work. Arman has a playdate with a friend and then I need to cook dinner for my guys before heading into work at 1:00pm.

Good night!

Happy Friday!!!

I just had to share this wonderful clip from youtube with a fitness tip from my favorite fitness expert Melissa Hall. This clip she shows workout moves that workout multiple body parts at one time to save you time during your busy schedules this holiday season. If I can workout and save time I am a happy camper. The other thing I like about this clip is that she show that darn belt by Slendertone! I swear I want one so bad, but $179.00!!! Is there anyone out there that owns one? Is is worth the investment? Please let me know, because if it is I will mostly buy one after I get my eliptical and barbells, lol.

Enjoy and stay fit!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket  I know that there is a lot of buzz about what foods people can eat to effectively lose weight and keep healthy, right? Well I am always curious and came across a page on Foodnetwork.com that displays the power foods that one should include in their diet. Once you click on the food group they explains the benefit they have for your body. I am not too surprised about this, but someone starting off on a diet for the first time may appreciate this information.

Now speaking of healthy foods I am curious to know what is your favorite healthy food? Okay…. my favorite would be a nice lean piece of beef tenderloin and… with a side of sweet potatoes. Gosh, I am making myself hunger already. hee hee

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket Day 7 was kind of rough because I worked again from 11:00 -7:00pm and I was beat!! Then I came home and went for a short walk with the family and when my son went to bed I decided to do my cardio which was step aerobics. Boy was I exhausted at the beginning of the workout! I almost wanted to quit in the middle of the routine, but I made it through, ugh!! I wanted to do 60 minutes, but I managed to make it through 45 minutes which is not too bad at all. In a bit I will hop on the bowflex to complete my leg extensions and hamstring curls and the remainder of my workout will be resistance training like lounges. I really want my legs back like I had them last summer and I will get them.

After doing my challenge for a week I can feel a difference in my clothing so far, especially in my waist and butt. I must be losing inches and my husband says he sees a difference in my arms and legs too. He says they look more toned. I don’t see it yet, but maybe I am just being hard on myself. I am also maintaining the loss I saw on the scale earlier in the week and hoping for maybe 1 more pound my Monday or Tuesday. I would be excited to see 163 or 162 again (God, I am such a YoYo, lol). Well, I am going to complete my workout for the evening.

P.S. Don’t forget to set your clocks back for daylight savings time, Okay?

Chat later

it is day two of my challenge and i have to  say that all is well with the exception of being sore on the lower half of my body. Which is okay. Today I my workout was as follows;

  1. Bench press 3 set of 15 (95Lbs)
  2. Butterflies 3 sets of 15 (60lbs)
  3. Biceps (hammer curls) 3 set of 15 (5Lbs dumbbell) Bicep curls 3 set of 10 (5lbs dumbbells)
  4. Triceps 3 sets of 15 (10Lbs)
  5. Lats on the bowflex (95Lbs) 3 set of 10

The my meal plan was:

  1. Meal 1: Oatmeal, orange, turkey
  2. Meal 2: Muscle Milk, banana, whole wheat bread
  3. Meal 3: Chicken breast, zucchini, whole wheat bread
  4. Meal 4: chicken breast, green beans
  5. Meal 5: chicken breast, green beans, baked potato

I also got in 70oz of water which is in between my goal, so i am not too upset about that. Tomorrow I am off of work so I will definitely fit in my cardio 30-35 minutes of step and I will also complete a 10 minute ab routine from exercise on demand too. Later hubby, our son and I will be heading to a pumpkin patch in the area to pick pumpkins to carve that evening and get everything ready for Halloween on Wednesday. My son is soooo excited because he can’t wait to wear his costume again and of course the candy. well I am off for now!
