So far so good on day 5, but man I was totally blown away after ready my November issue of Oxygen Magazine. If you subscribe they had and article on how to fix lagging shoulders, page 116, and I thought to myself, dang! I haven’t worked out my shoulders that much at all. I was wondering why my shoulders were looking a little dense after looking at all of the figure models in the magazine and at bodybuilding.com. Their shoulders rocked!! They had sculpt and definition and I really want to work mine too! So now I know what I need to do and I did the workout today and felt great.
I also found a inspiration photo, courtesy of Oxygen Magazine, a picture of Mocha Lee. She is an inspirational fitness professional and I thought her shoulders look awesome!! If you are looking to workout your shoulders too click here and try this great workout from Oxygenmag.com.
Today, was another great day and I stayed away from the scale this morning. Good girl. I ate my meals as planned and I worked out my shoulders like I mentioned above:
In 30 minutes I will be going for a 2 mile walk/jog and either before or after I get back I will workout my chest, lats, bicep, tricep, and back on our bowflex. So saying that I better prepare myself and get movin’
I have been such a slacker with my eating this weekend already and I need to really stop it! Yesterday I had chinese and today I hate to say it, but Jack in the box too, ugh!! To top it off I am starting to feel bloated and the time of the month is on its way. Yuck! In order for me to stop this downward spiral I am starting a challenge for myself which is to do the following:
Eat clean for the next 26 days no cheats!!
Drink 64-80 ounces of water each day
Exercise with cardio 3 days a week and weight lift 4 days a week.
I will start this challenge tomorrow and that means I have to avoid treats at work. I even told my husband that his is going to have to suffer from the lack of treats in the house too. So, it will be hard, hell we have a stash of Halloween candy in the house already and I will be giving it all away! No left overs. The only left overs there will be is the candy my little boy brings home from trick or treat. Each day I will post how I am doing and if you would like to join in please do! We can keep each other motivated and possibly shed 5-10Lbs during this challenge. With that said I will gulp down my last evil treat which is a strawberry Fanta soda and give myself a cheers for weight loss of 5 pounds bringing me back to 160, again and to see some transformation with my muscle tone as well.
Hi everyone I found this fab youtube clip with Bonnie’s fitness tips for the holidays. They are coming and we got to face it and be prepared so that we don’t slip off on the deep end with a holiday gain of excess fat gain. I know that I don’t, but enjoy!! I am off to the grocery store to fill up my fridge.
I am so glad that I am off from work today. I slept in a little later than normal which I truly needed it. My son hopped into bed my bed this morning and slept with me until 8:30am. I loved it!!! We got up showered ate our healthy breakfast together. I had:
old fashioned oat meal
grapes
4oz of turkey breast
Yummy!! Then we played around the house and on the web for a while, then we were outside playing soccer together, tag, and drawing our bodies on the patio. To top that off we played with play dough too. After all of that fun we had lunch which was tuna on whole wheat and a banana. I added some chips to my sons lunch and I did not even take a bit! Unreal for me. Finally after that I got him down for his nap and here I am. In a bit I am going to workout my lower body. On the bowflex I will:
3 set of 15 leg extensions (100lbs) I could do more, we’ll see.
3 sets of 15 leg curls 80lbs
Then I will do the workout I mentioned before that I found in my Oxygen Mag.
I addition to that above I found another workout in that I found on shape.com it seemed pretty neat. It’s a rear cable lunge. I know I sound obsessive about the butt area, but I want this darn little bit of fat gone and see some firmness going in here. hee hee. But (hee hee) check it out and see if this is something you would like to add to your workout. I love variety in my workouts so that I don’t get bored, so if you are needing more variety check this out and each week I will be adding new workout ideas that I find here.

Hey everyone! Monday is done and now on to the next! I was browsing the net like my usual self and came across this really neat website call Just For Kix. Just For Kix is a site that offers exciting dancing and performing opportunities for young people. On top of that they offer many other retail items for your dancing needs from dance shoes to apparel for dance and cheerleading too. I know I am just amazed because I was a cheerleader from elementary school through high school. I also was a UCA (Universal Cheerleading Association) all star and danced in a New Years Day Parade in London, England back in January 1994 too! So back then I did not have the variety or available of items needed for this sport as they do today. If you are a cheerleader/dancer or a mother of a cheerleader/ dancer you should check this site out. I loved some of the practice apparel that they have. Shoot I thought some of them practice apparel was so cute that I wanted to order them myself for workout clothing, but I guess being 31 years of age would be silly, huh? And maybe not.
The other interesting thing that I came across is the dance classes they offer to people in the Midwest. Just For Kix oversees dance team programs in over 150 communities and approx. 18,000 dancers throughout Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska and Wisconsin. The Just For Kix motto, “doing your best is more important than being the best”, puts the prime motivation on team work and self-esteem. In addition to that they offer Just For Kix Camps are the focus for another division of the company. Just For Kix Dance, Drill and Pom Camps are team camps offered in 8 states. There are also elementary and junior high day camps offered for K-9 grade in Minnesota. Private camps can be set up anywhere, per your request.

I just finished my morning workout this morning and soon I will get showered and all made up for work in a bit. You are probably wondering what workout did I try now? Well I just purchased my November issue of the Oxygen Magazine and I came across a cool workout that will get anyone’s legs into shape. The mag shows 6 different workouts you can do and man they feel GOOD!! If you have the issue already the workout is on pages 83-86. If you don’t have the issue yet you can click here and once you are on the page you can click on their interactive preview. So if you are looking for something new to add to your existing or new workout I think this one is great. Enjoy!
Are you like me and still working on getting that awesome six pack ready for next summer or even and vacation you are gearing up for soon. Well, I was browsing on Fittv.com and came across a great fit tip for getting that six pack abs from my favorite exercise guru Sharon Mann. Click here to view it! Once your are on the site click on the play clip called Get six-pack abs. She makes a great point in saying that if you still have a layer of fat over your abs you will not be able to see them, so kick up the cardio to shed the fat and continue strength training in that area and soon you will see those awesome beautiful 6 pack. Yeck I would even settle for a 2 pack, lol.
It’s a new week and I am so driven to stay focused. Remember yesterday when I said that my scale was being merciful to me after my cheats? It showed 159.5 yesterday and today is another story. Grrr! I got on it that thing this morning and it showed 163! Now how in the world does that happened? I don’t even know why I asked that question. I am retaining so much water from all of the salty foods I ate last week. I feel like a flotation device. Yuk! So please help me this week.
I really want to hone in on muscle strengthening and definition this fall. I am serious!! I want to firm up and get rid of the soft areas that still remain on my body, lol. Well, I just downloaded this e-book that I will try and see if it will help me meet my fitness goals. I don’t want to me completely muscular, but I guess I want to look firm and tone kind of like the fitness models you see in the magazines and fitness competitions.
Have any of you heard of this e-book by Tom Venuto called, “Burn The Fat Feed The Muscle“? This is the one I have and I was just wondering if any of you have tried this and had any success with it? I am going to give it a try and I will post updates on my progress.
Would you agree that there has been a lot a advertisements gearing towards adults and stressing the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle? I do, but what about our growing youth? I think it is very important to teach what we’ve learned about living a healthy lifestyle and passing those values down to them, so that they can grow up into healthy adults. It saddens me to see how some kids these days spend too much time doing seditary activities such as watching t.v. and playing video games for hours. One may ask how can I help my young child? Or where can I start?
Well I came across this interesting Site called PlaySportTv.com today. This site was really intriguing to me because as you know I have a child of my own and I want him to learn the benefits of eating healthy and stay active too. What I found is this site is a brand new broadband channel that is dedicated to give great sports instruction to youth sports through coaching and instruction. I also found that the PlaysportTV.com team has more that 65 years of experience in media development and they also know about sports through their many years of coaching experience. They also have managed a national sports magazine for kids and have an extensive network of coaches, athletes and other youth sports expects available to you.
The other benefits are:- Great instructional content, including more than 500 free videos that teach key skills in sports like soccer, football, basketball and many more that make it easy for parents to help develop their kids’ skills and enjoyment of the game.
- Comprehensive sportsmanship and sports parenting content to help parents develop well-rounded athletes and coaches and parents to set a good example for their kids.
- Expert blogs offering easy-to-understand tips and advice, and kid-friendly feature stories and interviews with athletes and coaches that help educate, motivate and encourage kids to get the most out of the youth sports experience.
I feel that the features to this site are phenomenal especially for a parent that may not know where to start. Additionally, with these features I believe that they will set you up for success and create a fun and interactive atmosphere for you and your child to love for many years. Heck, you may even find a new sport that you may like for yourself too. I would highly recommend anyone that are at a lost for ideas or need additional coaching techniques for the school aged kids in order to make exercise through sports a fun experience for you and your child to enjoy together.
