Day 1: Not so good, but I will not stop!

Hey all,

I am so glad that the Thanksgiving goodies are almost gone in my house. I just can’t stop eating it!! I is so good, but not so good for weight loss. We had some friends stop by and I was glad to give left overs such as wines, sparkling cider, and others! Today I started off great with eating:

  1. Meal one: Protein shake, banana
  2. Meal 2: cabbage, turkey and a orange

then after that I went downhill. I got home from work and had a snack with was a cup full of trail mix nuts, then I had dinner and ate way too much AGAIN!!! Do I dare mention? Ham, turkey, dressing, yams, potato salad, and greens. Yikes!! What in the world is going on. I know TOM will be here later tomorrow, so that could be my issue. Or, the over eating of sugar foods is making me crave the wrong foods and I need to nip that in the bud now.

In a bit, I will workout my abs, and upper body, but cardio… I now that will not happened because I feel so lazy right now. My mission for tomorrow is to wake up early and pop in my tae bo DVD and get to burn some serious calories and then I will work out my legs. Well, I am off for now and get that workout in so that I can play in some make-up I bought. I am trying to work a smokey eye. Wish me luck Delphine. hee hee. Maybe I will post the results. haha ha

So, I am willing to try every trick in the fit tip book to achieve it.

I was browsing on Oxygen, I know that is one of my favorite fitness resources because they are full of great for training tips for us losing weight and leaning out the body. But they showed a great way to workout the chest area and get them firm. The movement looks tough, but the results will be awesome!! Check it out and give it a try. I know I will on my next training day for the upper body. Below is the picture of the workout. Click here to see it in its entirety.

Day 25: Progress

Good morning!! I can’t believe I got up as planned and in a few seconds I will be getting ready to get my exercise in before heading into work. Today is my leg day and I am going to get my cardio in with Tae Bo amped, the core workout. I hope it burns calories!! I have a feeling it is going to be a slow day because a lot of shoppers will be waiting to the day after Thanksgiving sales! I know I would.

I got on the scale and no movement! Grrrr! I guess, I know why? No, I did not cheat. Yesterday I mentioned that PMS is here and TOM will be arriving next week. So when that happened I begin to retain water! So I will get a better read for my weight loss progress next week. Tonight I will try my best to post my progress pics, but I will not make promises because I have to start cooking like a mad woman. hee hee! Well, I better get breakfast started since my little has walked into the office.

Day 19-21: So Far Maintaining 3 pounds loss

Hi all!! yesterday’s party when great!!! My son had fun all though he was so tired he started to get cranky and did not want to share new toys at all. The kids played until 9:00pm then it was time for everyone to go home and my little 4 year old to go to bed. Yesterday I was so gracious to get my cardio in that when I got on the scale this morning after eating pizza, cake and soda last night it did not go up. (I know) I just saw 165. Now today I have got my plan into action for the next 4 days of this challenge. Can I say detox!! I got my shakes and cabbage stew ready to go. My fish and chicken too. The plan is to do 4 days of cardio so that I can rest my body, even though I will be busy cooking my but off, on Thanksgiving. Maybe I can squeak off 1-2 more pounds before Thursday, lol.
Then I will get back onto my 32 day Christmas Challenge. The goal is to be in the 150′s. I may sound a bit redundant about trying to hit this goal over and over again, but at least I am trying when most people would give up!!

Well, in a bit I have to go to work! I really don’t want to because my allergies are getting the best of me, but I gonna do it. I hope you all have a great day and get you cardio in too. Tonight it will be step aerobics in along with weight training on the upper body. I really need to work on my abs which is my neglected area.

Nutrition: The Importance Of Protein

I just had to share this article I found today because a lot of being have been asking me why is protein so important for weight loss and building muscles. So people say that protein will make you fat or they say I don’t have time to cook all of the protein suggested on a daily basis. So this article was great in explaining the importance of protein and if you are unable to prepare it how protein supplements can be a great way to replace a few meals.

Enjoy!

Protein And Your Fitness Goals
By Angie Schumacher

Why do we need protein?

Protein is the building block of our whole body – muscles, tissues, hair, nails, etc – all made up of protein. The body needs to break protein down to amino acids to build muscles. If you do not have enough protein in your body you can NOT build muscle mass. You want to make sure that your body is burning fat, not muscle and you can ensure this by ingesting .9 grams of protein per pound of body weight. If you want to build muscle, you will need to ingest 1 to 1.5 grams of protein.

Most protein foods of animal origin such as meat, poultry, fish, eggs, cheese, and milk, contain all of the essential amino acids and are called complete proteins. Proteins found in vegetables are usually lacking one or more of the essential amino acids, so they are called incomplete proteins. However, you can combine 2 incomplete vegetable proteins to make a very high quality complete protein. These are the foods are where most of your protein grams should come from first.

Will taking in protein make me fat?

Amino acids in protein help keep your blood sugar levels stable, so if you are trying to lose weight, the protein will aide in your weight loss. Protein helps keep stop your cravings for food that occurs when blood sugar level drops. When your diet is too high in carbohydrates, you go from a burst of energy and being full to being tired and hungry. That is why you must always have a protein and a carbohydrate at each meal.

Why should I supplement with whey protein? Can’t I get enough protein from eating regular foods?

Yes, you can get enough protein, but there are times when it can be very hard. In todays world, people just don’t have enough time. Running here and there, always on the go. This is where protein shakes can come in very handy. They literally take 2-3 minutes to prepare. Scoop the powder into a shaker or blender with some form of liquid (milk, fruit juice or water). Supplementing with whey protein shakes will help you to build muscle mass, speed recovery time, reduce injuries related to working out, help you to maintain a healthy and fit body and help you to feel better during your workouts.

When are the best times to use a protein supplement?

You should try to get most of your daily protein from regular foods, but there are times when having a protein shake are more beneficial. First thing in the morning, when your body has not had any food for the past 8 hours or so, shakes are digested much faster than an actual meal. Immediately following a workout is also an ideal time for a protein shake. This is probably the most important time to have a shake because after your workout, your muscles need to rebuild and repair themselves.

Can too much protein hurt my body?

If you take in too much protein, your body will not be able to process all the protein into amino acids. What your body can not use will have to be excreted as a waste product. This means your kidney and liver will be doing a lot of work just to get the excess protein out of your body. While this will not cause any major problems over a short period of time – you would not want to be overworking your kidney and liver over the course of several years. That being said – protein supplementation is very safe if you stay within the dosage guidelines.

Which protein supplement is best?

Whey protein is the best form of protein to take when using a supplement as it does not contain fat or lactose sugar. Whey is one of two major sources of protein in milk (casein protein being the other). When milk is turned into cheese, the whey protein is filtered out. The result is a high quality protein.

So as you can see, protein is the most important part of your diet, whether your goals are to increase muscle and get bigger and stronger, or lose weight and lose fat and get/stay lean.

Day 8 of 26: Gilad Kills!!

Oh the day went fast!! I went to work and thank God on time. I remembered to change the clocks in the house, but for some reason I was worried that the clocks were set wrong and I would wake up late for work. So, as a result, I did not sleep well last night, darn it!! I love my beauty sleep, and I need it. Did I tell you all I switched up my skincare routine and tried a new skincare line by Dr. Perricone? Oh man that line is not for me!! I usually use Bliss skincare and I was curious, because it is known to be one of the best firming/anti-aging skincare with the DMAE and alpha lapoic acid. Well after a week in a half my skin decided this is not for me. I broke out bad on the sides of my face and forehead. I later found out that there was too many active ingredients in there for my skin. So I discontinued the use and returned to my Bliss skincare which is AWESOME. But in the meantime my face is mad at me and broken out. :( I am sad because I sell skincare at Sephora and how will I look selling skincare and my face is all broken out. I am praying to God that is clears up FAST!!

Anyway, I stayed on my routine as planned today although I missed one of my meals today. I wont be too sad, but I will be better prepare tomorrow. My meals were:

  1. Meal 1: two poached eggs, toast, half banana
  2. Meal 2: chicken breast, brown rice, green beans
  3. Meal 3: protein bar and banana
  4. Meal 4: chicken thigh, brown rice and zucchini

I also got my workouts in too. I did:

  1. leg extensions on the bowflex since I did not get them in yesterday
  2. hamstring curls
  3. lat pull downs
  4. tricep pull down
  5. bicep curls
  6. 30 minute body sculpt with Gilad

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket Did I mentioned that Gilad Kills? Oh may God!! I was doing one of his workouts that came on fit t.v almost a 20 minutes ago and he killed my legs!! I worked them out earlier and now my legs feel like JELLO! He also decided to do some killer workouts on the biceps area with weights and a resistance band too, and abs too. I can not believe that man is still at it! He must be in his 50′s and he still has his body so toned and buff. I hate him, but I love him too. Do any of you workout to his DVD’s or Fit T.V? What do you think of his workouts? What are you favorites that you would recommend to buy? I love to keep my workouts new and fresh to avoid boredom. Well, I am off to hit the showers and really get some sleep tonight.

Byeeee!

Day 7: Tough, But Workouts Done!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket Day 7 was kind of rough because I worked again from 11:00 -7:00pm and I was beat!! Then I came home and went for a short walk with the family and when my son went to bed I decided to do my cardio which was step aerobics. Boy was I exhausted at the beginning of the workout! I almost wanted to quit in the middle of the routine, but I made it through, ugh!! I wanted to do 60 minutes, but I managed to make it through 45 minutes which is not too bad at all. In a bit I will hop on the bowflex to complete my leg extensions and hamstring curls and the remainder of my workout will be resistance training like lounges. I really want my legs back like I had them last summer and I will get them.

After doing my challenge for a week I can feel a difference in my clothing so far, especially in my waist and butt. I must be losing inches and my husband says he sees a difference in my arms and legs too. He says they look more toned. I don’t see it yet, but maybe I am just being hard on myself. I am also maintaining the loss I saw on the scale earlier in the week and hoping for maybe 1 more pound my Monday or Tuesday. I would be excited to see 163 or 162 again (God, I am such a YoYo, lol). Well, I am going to complete my workout for the evening.

P.S. Don’t forget to set your clocks back for daylight savings time, Okay?
